Model conversion guides
Choose the right output, understand what survives conversion, and check the result before using it in a design or print.
STL to STEP: what changes, what doesn't
Work through a 10 mm cube example, set the correct source units, and understand why a STEP export still has triangular faces.
STEP to STL: choosing mesh quality
Pick a tessellation tolerance, preserve model dimensions, and check a converted part in your slicer.
Fix conversion errors and unexpected results
Diagnose open shells, incorrect scale, missing textures, unsupported geometry, and browser resource limits.
A small model to test your workflow
Our sample cube has 12 triangles and coordinates from 0 to 10 on each axis. Choose millimeters when converting the STL and the resulting model should measure 10 × 10 × 10 mm. It is deliberately simple so that you can check units and basic import behavior without sharing your own design.
